Wikipedia Assignment Overview
The Syllabus describes the Wiki Assignments as follows: "The wiki assignment is broken into several parts. Each student will choose a topic to write about (or an existing Wikipedia topic to revise) in wikipedia.com. You will write (or revise) your entry, as well as find and include links and references to reputable sources for the selected topic. The page must stay active and accepted by Wikipedia until the end of the semester. "
Wikipedia Proposal
The Syllabus describes the Wiki Proposal as follows: "The first part of the assignment is for each student to write a proposal to the professor that explains the topic chosen and why it is worth creation/revision along with the research that will be used to make the changes." For my proposal I chose to propose the article topic "Sager Notebook Computer. The proposal follows the form of proposals taught in class using MIMES and TRIBE." I chose this topic because I own a Sager laptop and was intrigued, but the article also greatly fit the requirements for this assignment. I chose a memo for this proposal because it fit the form of my initial outline perfectly. I feel that my proposal was greatly enhanced by the fact that I chose the memo.

Wikipedia Edited Page
The Syllabus describes the Wiki Article Edit as follows: " You should be working to create a good article according to the Wiki guidelines as well as striving to make a substantive improvement as discussed in class using sources of good quality." In class the professor distributed rubrics that explained how our performance will be evaluated. I followed this rubric rather strictly to ensure that my final article would adhere and excel the standards set forth by the parties grading me. With the rubric and answered questions from class as a guide I feel I have formed a well constructed article that has meshed well within the Wiki community.

Wikipedia Presentation
The Syllabus describes the Wiki Oral Presentation as follows: "The second part will be an individual oral report in which you present what you found at first, how you revised it, as well as what sources you used and why they are reputable. The student will make an oral report to the class that will last 10 minutes including time for questions that must explain how the page looked when you started and what additions and changes you made that show the work done and why it is worthy of notice. The individual oral is a report that explains the actions taken and why you feel these were needed as well as how they improve the entry and the entire Wikipedia. " When presenting my oral report I tried to stick as tightly to the requirements set forth in class and in the syllabus. I strictly discussed what I did when editing my article and how I improved Wikipedia as a whole.

Wikipedia Memo
The Syllabus describes the Wiki Memo as follows: "After the oral report, the student must write a memo detailing the wiki assignment completed by the student with an argument why what you did is worthwhile. The memo should be written in MS Word and submitted as an attachment emailed. The memo is more of an argument for why you feel what you did deserves a good grade. It deals not only with the quality of what you did but also proposing that the work is of value based upon what we did in class. You should explain your goal, target, situation, and why your package is effective with respect to these parameters." When writing my Wiki Memo I decided to break it down into 2 sub categories. The first relating to the actual edited content and the second relating to my oral presentation. By covering both these topics, I feel that my Wiki Memo definitely fights for my grade.

Wikipedia Online Presentation
The Syllabus describes the Wiki Online Presentation as follows: "Finally, the electronic presentation is meant to be a summation of all the aspects of this and needs to be accessible electronically for a general audience that might view it as if it were posted on YouTube or a similar site." My Electronic Presentation covers the entire Wiki assignment and addressed the assignments place within technical writing. I utilized Microsoft PowerPoint to create my electronic presentation, using the narration feature. The presentation is a slide show format, meaning you just double click it and the presentation will automatically play through with narrations. Two notes: One, please turn on your speakers prior to viewing the presentation and Two, The narrations make the PowerPoint rather large please make sure the file downloaded successfully the file size is 78MB.

Group Oral Presentation
The Syllabus describes this assignment as follows: "Groups of 4-5 will prepare a presentation on one of the following topics: Ethics, Cheating, and Plagiarism; False/Deceptive Advertising; Subliminal Messages in Media; Copyright and Infringement; Intellectual Property and Patents; and Engineering Ethics and Professional Codes. Presentations should be 15 minutes including time for questions. Each member of the group must speak and/or answer questions. The groups must make a PowerPoint presentation following the guidelines distributed during class and will be asked to post these to WebCT after the presentations." For this assignment my group consisted of 5 of my fraternity brothers as well as myself, for a total of 6 people. Due to the fact that I already knew everyone in my group, there were no issues contacting people, or issues related to group members not pulling their weight. Our group was assigned the topic of Intellectual Property, which was good, as some group members had in depth knowledge of this area previous to class. Overall, this was one of my favorite assignments from the semester.

Resume and Cover Letter
The Syllabus describes this assignment as follows: "The Resume and Cover Letter are the first introduction to all the aspects of technical writing and will be used throughout the semester to teach the different assignments. The final versions must be included on the web showcase to be reviewed at the end of semester." This Assignment I felt greatly helped me prepare for and interview internships throughout the semester. Both the Resume and Cover Letter are contained inside a self extracting encrypted archive. This is because I do not want my personal information out on the web. The password will be included in the submission email.

NJIT Virus Scan Process Description Critique
The Syllabus describes this assignment as follows: "Each student will critique a technical procedure or steps, for a specific function or program related to the things done in class. Several different processes will be posted on WebCT from which the students may choose. The final process critique should be submitted as a MS Word document, that is approximately five pages long with headings, graphics, and a table of contents submitted to Turnitin.com and an MS Word file attached in an email." This assignment was completed solely out of class. We had the choice of 5 process description critiques. I chose the process description from the NJIT Virus Protection Center. I felt that this process description lent itself to the assignment very well. Overall I was very happy with the way my critique turned out.

Definitions Posted in Journal
The Syllabus describes this assignment as follows: "Journal 1 - Define the following terms in your own words: Technology, Technical, Writing, and Communication. You may use outside sources but I do not want you to just copy and paste or retype what they have written." This assignment was initially prepared in class. Then we were told to bring our in class work home and complete the assignment as a journal entry. This word file contains my finalized definitions after group critique.
